Why
Pornographic Poetry?
Pornography is defined as
obscene
writings, drawings, photographs, or the like,
especially those having little or no artistic merit.
Poetry is the art of
rhythmical composition, written or spoken, for
exciting pleasure by beautiful, imaginative, or
elevated thoughts.
Combining obscene writings and drawings having
little or no artistic merit with rhythmical
composition of imaginative, elevated, beautiful and
sometimes obscene
thoughts seems signatory of the times.
Pornographic Poetry is intended to be both
macrocosmic and microcosmic, without issueatic
boundaries or limits.
Who/What is
Pornographic Poetry?
Pornographic
Poetry is the medium for publishing the audio and
visual artwork by Jim Brenner....Pornographic Poetry
initially began as a project entitled International
Radio Tunes. International Radio Tunes was intended
to be a progressive musical art project politically
critical in nature... For lack of intrigue, the name
and the concept were converted to Pornographic
Poetry. Under the new name, Pornographic
Poetry represents a broad spectrum of topics... from
politics, economics, human weakness and
vulnerability, stupidity to sexuality. The
project is almost entirely a solo project with the
exception of occasional collaboration. It's
continuous, progressive and hopefully will grow over
time to enormous proportions.
The Music Monopoly
Mix the high cost
of recording technology to produce professional
sound quality with a limit on the amount of
publishing channels (only a few radio and TV
stations) and you are able to reap huge profits
on a simple song. And, better yet, mix it with
economies-of-scale high-cost manipulative
marketing convincing people it's the greatest
song ever using false testimony and bogus charts
and you get the benefits of the music monopoly.
The true monopoly
on music is achieved by the individual
listener's innate need to be part of a greater
common cultural phenomenon, binding the
individual to a community seeking identity and
acceptance.... To share a common experience with
others of the time period.
An Album of Songs and Artwork
Album
is defined as
a printed book containing
an anthology of writings, reproductions of
photographs or artwork, musical compositions,
etc.
Putting together a collection of 10 to 15 songs
under one album title is completely arbitrary.
The idea is based on recent commercial
tradition. Originally, this project was
intended to create a collection of songs based
on a single theme to revive the idea of an album
and to give purpose to its name. This
however, has proved to be too restrictive on
creativity. Therefore, there is not
necessarily any purpose to
presenting songs here in album format. The
songs may be reorganized one day to achieve the
effect of theme-based albums.
