Sloth is Sin (The Prostitute)

This song was inspired by a famous Russian novel.  It's a sarcastic criticism of communism.  A proper work ethic can only be carried out under the proper political system.

Princesses & Prostitutes (2007)

Lyrics

On a bench in a littered park

With broken bottles at his feet

A drunken man

Puts his head in his hands

As he mumbles and weeps

About his failure and inability

To provide for his family

Sloth is sin, work sets you free

But that’s just a dream

In this society

You walk the streets under

Day and moonlight

Against the concrete slabs

Underpants stretched between

Your knees tight

A tongue licks your face

With the smell of rotten teeth

With dirty fingers

He gives your breast a squeeze

The church girls say the

Devil likes to wallow in his sin

They say that this is the pleasure

That you luxuriate in

Sloth is sin, work sets you free

But that’s the just a dream

In this economy

Lipstick smeared

All across your face

From kissing strangers

In your desperate disgrace

For so little money

You satisfy their needs

While the next one watches on

Impatiently

The church girls say this turns you on

As he demands a discount

Saying you’re not a pretty woman

Sloth is sin, work sets you free

But you can’t sell that dream

In this society

It’s your own fault; it’s your own fault

It’s your own fault; it’s your own fault

For everything you are

For everything you do

For everything you are

For everything you do

You come into the kitchen

Your mother waiting to

Pass these days

You hand her the money

That she so shamefully takes

She says nothing at all

You plead

Don’t let father waste it

On alcohol

Sloth is sin, work sets you free

But that’s just a dream

In this society

Sloth is sin, work sets you free

But that’s just a dream

In this society
